                  Belle Isle

                         never heard of it?

Its the name of the first  railway signal box you see, (on the left),  after leaving Kings cross station. Its opposite where Clarence Terrace and the 'old bombed church' once stood. Where the the old North London Railway line (now accompanied by the Euro Star) crosses the Main Line going north.  See the piccy on the page  'a few more piccys'

The large chimney type structure at the back sits plumb in the centre of that area once known as Belle Isle, which straddled what became  Tile Yard  - Vale Royal - Brandon Road  and Blundell Street.   From 'The Fortune of War' Pub  in the south, to 'The Butchers Arms' on the corner of Brewery Road, in the north.
